When does Ramadan 2026 begin and why is it announced in advance?

Ramadan 2026 is expected to begin on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. At IOST, we follow the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA), which utilizes astronomical calculations. This method allows our community to plan ahead for work and school with certainty.

We have a full calendar of programs, including:

Daily Taraweeh & Iftar: Community worship and meals every night.
Nightly Khatirah: “Walking Through the Revelation” with Imam Anas.
Youth & Adult Competitions: Trivia and Quran challenges for all ages.
Community Qiyam: Special late-night prayers during the last ten nights.
Brotherhood Nights: Events for middle school, high school, and college-aged boys.

Ages 4–10: We provide *free supervised childcare* from Isha until the end of 10 rakahs of Taraweeh.
Ages 11+: We strongly encourage our youth to join the congregation for the *first 8 rakahs. Afterward, they are welcome to socialize in the building adjacent to the masjid.

To ensure the safety of our neighbors and congregants, IOST will be strictly enforcing traffic and building rules:

Traffic Flow: Please follow all directional signs and instructions from our parking attendants. Do not block driveways or park in restricted areas.
Building Conduct: We maintain a high standard of cleanliness and silence in the prayer halls. Please keep the masjid tidy and avoid loud conversations during prayer times.

Sadaqatul Fitr is $10 per person for every member of your household. The portal for both online and in-person payments will open after the 15th of Ramadan.

Eid al-Fitr will be on Friday, March 20, 2026. Specific details regarding prayer shifts and locations will be announced during the last ten days of Ramadan.

Yes! Free community Iftar is served daily after Maghrib. As this is a donor-supported tradition, please consider contributing toward the meal costs on our website.

Let us honor the sanctity of the Masjid by treating it with the same care and respect as our own homes.
The Masjid is the home of every believer and deserves our utmost respect and excellence. Let us maintain the House of Allah (SWT) with even greater care and cleanliness than we do our own homes.

The Prophetic Guidance

"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to build Masajid in our localities and that they should be kept clean and perfumed." — (Sunan Abi Dawud)

IOST will strictly enforce the following rules this Ramadan:

Shoes on the Rack

Please place your shoes neatly on the provided racks. Keeping the walkways clear is a sign of respect for your brothers and sisters and keeps the house of Allah organized.

Cleanliness is Faith

Always clean up after yourself, especially during Iftar and Suhoor. Leave your spot cleaner than you found it.

Preserve the Silence

The Masjid is a place of Dhikr and devotion. Please avoid screaming, loud conversations, or unnecessary noise, especially during prayer times.

Mindful Parking

Park correctly within the lines. Never block others or neighboring driveways. Your worship should never cause hardship to another.

Respectful Cooperation

Please follow the instructions of our staff and volunteers. They are here to serve you and ensure a safe, organized environment for everyone.

Give Your Time This Ramadan

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help ensure our programs run smoothly and safely. If you aren’t able to contribute financially, donating your time is a beautiful way to earn the rewards of service.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

  • Sisters’ Coordination & Childcare: We need sisters to welcome guests, guide mothers with children to the appropriate areas, and assist with our daily childcare program.
  • Parking & Traffic Safety: We need brothers to help manage traffic flow and ensure everyone parks safely and correctly during busy prayer times.
  • Masjid Care & Cleaning: Volunteers are needed to help maintain the cleanliness of the prayer halls and social areas, especially after Iftar and Taraweeh.

Why Volunteer?

The Prophet (saw) said, “The most beloved of people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to people.” Whether you can spare one hour or one night a week, your effort makes our Masjid a better home for everyone.
