The Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier (IOST) invites the community to a special Family Night event, “The Fasting Effect: The Science of Fasting”. Renowned nutrition expert, Dr. Lina Marhaba, Professor of Nutrition at Binghamton University, will deliver an evidence-based presentation highlighting the scientific impact of fasting on health and wellness. Attendees will gain valuable insights into cutting-edge research, practical fasting tips, and the connection between faith and science. The evening will also feature engaging Kahoot trivia challenges and interactive games for children, making it a fun learning experience for all ages. As an added treat, a complimentary catered dinner will be provided to all attendees. Open to everyone, this free event offers a wonderful opportunity to deepen understanding of fasting while enjoying quality time with family and friends in a welcoming community setting.
Following the enriching lecture, attendees enjoyed a vibrant potluck dinner, fostering a strong sense of community. Over 70 individuals participated, contributing a diverse array of culinary delights, including various cuisines and pizza. This communal meal provided a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and connection, further strengthening the bonds within the Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier.
