Goals & Vision

The Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier (IOST) strives to build a vibrant and inclusive community rooted in Islamic values, offering a center for spiritual growth, learning, and service to all.

IOST's Mission

The IOST, a Sunni mosque, nurtures a vibrant and inclusive Muslim community in Greater Binghamton by fostering spiritual growth, providing enriching education, and serving our neighbors with compassion.

At the IOST, we welcome Muslims of all backgrounds to connect in faith, deepen their knowledge, and build a supportive community together through worship, service, and understanding.

Guided by faith, compassion, and service, the IOST empowers the Greater Binghamton Muslim community through education, outreach, and a welcoming space to find solace and strengthen our bonds.

Our Focus

At IOST, our programming, services, and events are guided by these four core values.

Original (Faith)

Our mosque provides a range of worship program including qiyaams, jumuah, and the five daily prayers, as well as duas, dhikrs, and events designed to deepen the spiritual connection with the almighty:

Daily Salah, Taraweeh, Adhkar, Duas, Jumuah, and additional events are all part of our ‘Faith’ Focus.

Community

The IOST fosters community by hosting events like iftars, carnivals and cultural nights, and by offering services such as marriage ceremonies, funeral arrangements, and mediation.

Iftars, Eid celebrations, cultural nights, and marriage services strengthen our community bonds.

Knowledge

The lOST offers classes for all community members, including children's Quran and Islamic Studies classes, adult courses on reading Qur'an, and lectures on Seerah, Tafseer, and Hadith-all aimed at enriching our community's knowiedge.

Quran classes, lectures, youth programs, and educational seminars expand our Islamic understanding.

Service

The IOST supports those in need by collecting and distributing zakat to widows orphans, and overseas, along with running food pantry and various drives for clothing, food, and school supplies, demonstrating our commitment to service.

Zakat distribution, food pantry, aid drives, and community outreach embody our commitment to service.
Our mosque serves various audiences (Children & Teens, Young Adults, Families, Sisters, Elders, and the Community) through Educational, Outreach, Recreation, Religious, Social, and other programs.
