📢 IMPORTANT: New Jumuah Prayer Timings Starting TODAY! 📢

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to strive hard in worship during the last ten days of Ramadan in a manner in which he did not strive at any other time.” (Muslim)
The most blessed nights of the year are upon us! Our program at the Islamic Organization of Southern Tier is designed to support you through all ten nights, with a focus on the high-virtue Odd Nights.
✨ The Search for Laylatul Qadr
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Search for the Night of Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan.” (Bukhari)
To help you maximize these opportunities, mark your calendars for our Special Odd Nights:
📍 21st Night: Tonight, March 9
📍 23rd Night: Wednesday, March 11
📍 25th Night: Friday, March 13
📍 27th Night: Sunday, March 15
📍 29th Night: Tuesday, March 17
One night in prayer could be better than 1,000 months of worship. Don’t let a single moment slip away!
🗓 OUR DAILY PROGRAM (March 9th – 19th)
Join us every single night for:
🔹 1:00 AM – Salat-ut-Tasbih & Dua

Doing good in these nights is multiplied beyond measure. Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “Whoever stands (in prayer) during Laylatul Qadr with faith and hoping for reward, all his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari)
Whether it’s standing in prayer, giving charity, or simply sharing Suhoor with your brother or sister, every action counts. Let’s fill the Masjid with the sound of Quran and Dhikr and seek the mercy of Allah together. 🤲✨

🌙 THE FINISH LINE IS HERE: THE LAST 10 NIGHTS OF RAMADAN START TONIGHT 🌙

Please be advised that Daylight Saving Time begins at 2:00 AM tonight (Sunday, March 8). As we “Spring Forward,” there are two critical changes for our Ramadan routine at IOST:
⚠️ 1. CAUTION: Suhoor & Fajr Timing
Because the clocks move forward by one hour tonight, Suhoor will end an hour later on the clock tomorrow morning.
Please double-check your alarms! Ensure you are looking at the “New Time” (EDT) when preparing your Suhoor so you don’t stop eating an hour earlier than necessary or, more importantly, miss the cutoff.
🌙 2. NEW Isha & Taraweeh Schedule
To better accommodate the community for the rest of the month, Isha Prayer will now be at 8:45 PM for the remainder of Ramadan. —
🕌 Updated Daily Prayer Timings (Starting Sunday)
Fajr: 5:48 AM
Dhuhr: 1:30 PM
Asr: 5:00 PM
Maghrib: 7:07 PM
Isha: 8:45 PM 📌 (Fixed for the rest of Ramadan)
🕌 Jumu’ah Timings
1st Jumu’ah: Khutbah @ 1:30 PM | Salah @ 1:55 PM
2nd Jumu’ah: Khutbah @ 2:30 PM | Salah @ 2:55 PM
🌐 Full Schedule: www.iost.org/ramadan-2026
Please SHARE this post to make sure no one is confused by the time jump during their Suhoor! May Allah bless your worship and your fast.

📖 A Community Qur’an Competition for Everyone ✨

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
(Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.)
With heavy hearts, the Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier (IOST) announces the Janazah (funeral prayer) for our beloved brother, Eslam Hegazy, who returned to his Creator this Wednesday.
Br. Eslam was a cherished member of our community for over 19 years and a devoted father and husband. We invite the entire community to join us in prayer to honor his life and ask for his forgiveness.
Janazah Prayer Details:
When: TODAY, Friday, February 27, 2026
Time: 2:00 PM (Immediately after the 2nd Jumuah prayer)
Location: IOST Mosque, 161 Grand Avenue, Johnson City, NY 13850
Important Note regarding Burial:
Please be advised that there will be no burial ceremony following the prayer at IOST. In accordance with the family’s wishes, Br. Eslam will be taken to Egypt for his final resting place, InshAllah.
Condolences & Family:
Br. Eslam leaves behind his beloved wife, Dr. Eman Elatter, and three young children, including his 5-month-old son. We ask that you keep them in your most sincere Duas during this incredibly difficult and traumatic trial.
Dua for the Deceased:
“O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him and give him strength and pardon him. Be generous to him and cause his entrance to be wide and wash him with water and snow and hail. Cleanse him of his transgressions as white cloth is cleansed of stains.”
May Allah (SWT) grant Br. Eslam the highest level of Jannah, accept him as a Shaheed, and grant his family beautiful patience (Sabr Jameel).

JANAZAH ANNOUNCEMENT – Br. Eslam Hegazy

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
Honoring the Life and Legacy of Eslam Hegazy 💔
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, our community suffered a devastating loss. Our brother, Eslam Hegazy, returned to his Creator at the age of 38. Eslam was a remarkably kind, genuine soul and his family were attendees of the Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier (IOST).
Above all, Eslam was a great dad who lived for his family. He leaves behind his wife, Dr. Eman Elatter, and three beautiful children—his 8 and 7-year-old daughters and his 5-month-old baby boy.
Eslam’s life was tragically cut short after he was shot and killed by police at his home during a mental health crisis. As his family navigates this unimaginable trauma, we are coming together to support them and honor his memory.
How Your Support Will Help:
The funds raised will go directly toward:
– Immediate Support: Providing for his wife and three young children.
– Sadaqah Jariyah (Everlasting Reward): We are establishing projects in Eslam’s name to ensure he receives ongoing blessings, including building a water well and sponsoring orphans in his honor.
Donate Here: https://gofund.me/785ae1648 (or visit www.iost.org)
To our non-Muslim family and friends: We welcome and deeply appreciate your support during this time. Whether through a donation or by sharing this post, your kindness helps this family more than words can say.
Janazah Details:
Funeral arrangements are still being finalized. We will update the community as soon as details are confirmed.
A Request for Dua:
Please keep Eslam and his family in your prayers.
May Allah (SWT) forgive him and shower him with Mercy.
May he be accepted and counted among the Shuhada (martyrs).
May Allah (SWT) grant his family strength and Sabr.

🕌 3. PRAYER AREAS
Main Halls: Reserved strictly for those who are praying.
Under Age 4: Parents with toddlers/infants are asked to use the designated downstairs prayer area.
👟 4. MASJID CARE

Cleanliness: “Our Masjid, Our Home.” Let’s respect Allah’s House—please treat this facility with more care than your own home!

Please bring reusable bottles to reduce waste.
Donations to our Water Fund are always welcome to help keep the community hydrated. If you would like to donate physical cases of water bottles, you are more than welcome to bring them in.

Follow Instructions: You must follow the directions of all staff members and volunteers at all times.
Respect: Any disrespect toward those working to manage the facilities will not be tolerated. Let our manners reflect our faith.
